ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) is being touted as the government’s next big digital initiative after UPI (Unified Payments Interface). The ambitious open source network aims to connect all buyers and sellers in the ecomm space and to more than treble the country’s ecommerce penetration to 25% of its 1.4 billion population. ONDC has recently been part of the internet chatter for the discounts on online food delivery that is massively undercutting Swiggy and Zomato. Are the discounts sustainable? Who’s funding them? Will more people take to this vast cluttered network? Is ONDC here to stay? Mugdha Variyar and Anirban Chowdhury talk to T Koshy, CEO, ONDC and Anshoo Sharma, Co-Founder & CEO of magicpin, one of the biggest selling apps on the network.
